This article will explain how to scan a Venmo code using the mobile app. If you want to pay someone using Venmo, you can scan their account QR code using the camera on your phone within the app. You can also scan the code using a picture from a text which I will show you how to do in a later section.
Below are the instructions for scanning someone’s Venmo code and viewing their account to pay or request money.

Log into your Venmo account on the App
When you open the Venmo app on your phone, you should be on the “Home” page. You can check this by looking at the bottom.
Tap the QR Code Icon in the Top Right
In the top right corner of the Venmo app, you should see a QR code icon. Tap this icon to start scanning a Venmo code.
Make Sure Your Camera is Enabled for Venmo
Make sure that your camera is enabled for the Venmo app so you can use the scanner. You can enable the camera by going to Venmo in your settings app and toggling on the camera.
You Should Be Able to Scan a Venmo QR Code
After enabling the camera, you should be able to scan a Venmo QR code. The app will direct you to the account of the Venmo user. You can then pay or request money from their account.
How to scan a Venmo Code from a Text Message
If someone sent you their Venmo QR code through a text message by using a screenshot, you could still scan this code. Using the scanner on screenshots is one of my favorite features that I found on Venmo recently.
This feature makes it easy to find someone’s profile instead of asking them to resend their Venmo profile link. You can scan their code from the screenshot.
First, save the screenshot from the message. Now follow the above instructions on how to find the Venmo QR code scanner and look at the bottom of the “Scan code” section. You should see a picture icon at the bottom. Tap this icon, and the app should direct you to your photo album.
Select the picture of the Venmo QR code you saved from your messages. The scanner should now direct you to the Venmo user’s account.
How to Find Your Venmo QR Code
If you want to find your Venmo QR code, you can select the icon in the top right corner of the “Home” page and then select “Venmo me” at the top of the scanner in the app.
You also have the option to tap “Me” in the bottom right corner. This button will then bring you to your profile page, where you can access numerous other settings on the platform. To view your QR code, you should be able to tap your profile photo, and the app will direct you to the “Venmo” section.
The “Me” page is another way to access the scanner to scan someone’s code to pay or request money. Select your profile photo and tap “Scan code” in the top left corner.
How to Share Venmo QR Code
If you want to share your Venmo QR code, you tap the share icon at the bottom of your code and select “Save Image.” Another way to share your code with other users is to screenshot it and send it to them. They will be able to view and open your account within the app by using the scanner, similar to just saving the photo.

Another method is to share your Venmo link. You can go to the “Venmo me” section of the app. When you tap the QR code in the top right corner, this will be in the middle at the top. If you are on the page with your QR code, you should see a shared icon at the bottom towards the right.
If you select this share icon below your code, you should be able to send your Venmo profile through text, email, or any other applications that come up in your share options.
Print Venmo QR Code Using the App
Venmo has a feature in the app that makes you a nice-looking print-out version of your Venmo QR code. You can find this print page for your code by going to the “Venmo me” section on the app. You should see a print icon at the bottom of your QR code. If you tap this print icon, the app will direct you to a page that says “Your Venmo QRC Kit” at the top.
You can tap the share button at the bottom to save, print, or send the PDF of your Venmo code. This feature makes it convenient to have a PDF copy of your code. It will also display your Venmo profile username above the code in the PDF.
How to Pay Using your Venmo Code
In the Venmo app, you have the option to “Pay at a business” using a code Venmo generates. You can find this scan code by tapping the QR code in the top right corner and selecting “Show to pay” at the top right. This feature will direct you to your code, and you can also see the payment method at the bottom.
To change the payment method, tap the current method at the bottom. The app will direct you to an option that allows you to change your payment method or add another one to the app.
Conclusion
Being able to send your generated QR code from the Venmo app makes it easy to share your profile with other users. The ability to scan Venmo profile QR codes within the app also makes it efficient for finding other profiles without having to search for them.
You should still be able to find the user’s profile by searching for their username. Their username should be at the top of their QR code. Whether someone sent you a Venmo code in text or shared a screenshot, there is still a way to scan the code.
