How to Reset Your Venmo Password on the App

Below I will go in-depth on each step and how you can reset your Venmo password to access your account.

Open the App and Tap “Log in”

When you open the app, you should have the option to create a new account with Venmo or log into your account. You will see the “Log in” button at the bottom of the screen.

Enter Your Email, Username, or Number

You should see a screen with a section to let you enter your “Email, username or phone number” at the top. Below this, you should have the option to enter your password. If you don’t know your password, you can proceed with the following steps.

Select “Forgot your password?”

If you don’t know the password to your Venmo account, you can reset it using the app. Select “Forgot your password?” at the bottom below the section that lets you type your password.

Enter your Phone Number or Email Address

To reset your Venmo password, you need access to your phone or email so Venmo can send you a password reset link. I used the phone number option, but you could use either.

Tap “Reset Password”

After you enter your phone number or email, you can tap “Reset Password” and wait for a link to be sent to your phone or email from Venmo.

Open the Email or Text, Click the Link (Make sure it’s from Venmo)

When you receive the link, make sure it comes from Venmo, and you can open it. The link should bring you to the Venmo website, where you can create a new password for your Venmo account.

Enter your New Password Twice

You will have to enter your new password twice before proceeding, so you can confirm that you want to use that password. This second password input can be a great way to ensure you entered the correct new password.

Tap “Save Password”

You can now select save the password and open the Venmo app to test your new password.

Change Your Venmo Password on the Website

Resetting your password on Venmo’s website platform is similar to the mobile app. You can select “Forgot password?” at the bottom of the login page. Venmo will then explain the following steps to reset your password using your number or email address on your account.

Below I will explain how to change your password on Venmo using the website. These instructions are if you have access to your account but want to change your password.

The process for changing a password on Venmo can be quick and efficient. The app can be used for accessing your account on the go, and the Venmo website also has features like being able to change your password.

Log into Your Account on the Website

You can log into your Venmo account on the website by using your login information. I was sent a verification text message to ensure I was logging into the account.

Go to Settings

On the left side of the screen, you should see an option on the list below your profile that says “Settings” with a plus sign on the side. Click the plus sign on the side.

Select “Profile” and Go to “Change password”

You can change your password in the “profile” section of Venmo’s website platform. Below your phone number, you should see the option that says “Change password.” Once you click that button, you can enter the current password you have set up with your account and follow the steps to change to a new password.

When changing your Venmo password, you have to follow the correct requirements to save your new password. Below is a list of the requirements for your new Venmo password.

Venmo Password Requirements

Venmo does have password requirements if you want to create a new account or change your password. The requirements are listed on the Venmo website when changing your password:

  • 8 Character minimum and 20 Character Maximum
  • Upper and Lower case Letters
  • You can put one number or “!@#$%”

Enable Face ID and a PIN For Venmo

If you have Face ID enabled on your phone, you have the option to use it to access Venmo. Within the Venmo app, you can enable this setting. Log into your account and tap “Me” in the right corner. Go to the settings in the top left corner and scroll down to “Face ID & PIN,” which should be close to the top of the list.

When you select “Face ID & PIN,” you have the option to toggle this on. When you toggle the option on, the app lets you enter a 4-digit code twice, and then you will receive a notification to enable the Face ID by selecting “OK.”

You should now be able to access your Venmo account using Face ID.

If you have questions, you can look at Venmo’s website for more information regarding profile settings and the Face ID on Venmo.
